Advice ahead of junior doctors' strike, 26-27 April

25 April 2016

Junior doctors are currently planning for further strike action this week - with a full walkout planned as part of national industrial action – but contingency preparations are already well underway across the NHS in South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula.

As things stand, a full withdrawal of labour by junior doctors is set to take place between 8am and 5pm on both Tuesday, 26th and Wednesday, 27th April. If the industrial action goes ahead, it will be the first time junior doctors have staged a full walkout and will not be providing emergency care.

Changes to Tamworth and Lichfield Minor Injuries Units Opening Hours

8 March 2016

Changes to out-of-hours urgent care services are set to be introduced in Lichfield and Tamworth on April 4th 2016, to help ensure that patients are seen by the right person in the right place, first time.

The opening hours of the region’s minor injuries units will be reduced, with the facilities at Tamworth's Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital opening from 8am to 10pm and at Lichfield’s Samuel Johnson Community Hospital opening from 8am to 9pm.

Stomach bug? Head to the pharmacy

8 March 2015

Stomach bugs or norovirus are widespread at this time of year – and families across south Staffordshire are being urged consider self-care at home as their best option until the unpleasantness subsides.

The message from NHS England is that you should head to the local pharmacist for help to avoid the discomfort of sitting in a GP waiting room or minor injuries unit.
