A new Emergency Supply Service is now available at a number of local pharmacies. The service enables you to access an urgent supply of your regular prescription medicines when you are unable to obtain a prescription before your next dose is needed. The medicines will be the same price as your usual prescription charge.
Previously, a pharmacist has been able to supply prescription only medicines in an emergency (if you had previously been prescribed the requested medicine) without a prescription. However, this emergency supply was not an NHS service and you may have been asked to pay the cost of the medicines.
The new service aims to reduce pressure on urgent and emergency care services at time of high demand, by removing the need for people to use these services to obtain a prescription.
A full list of local pharmacies offering the Emergency Supply Service is available below. This list is continually being updated as pharmacies join the scheme, so if your local pharmacy is not available please check back at a later date.
