Just one way to follow NHS commissioners on Twitter in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

Social media users now have a new way of finding out about the latest news and information from NHS commissioners across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

A new Twitter account - @StaffsCCGs – will combine news and information from the area’s six clinical commissioning groups (CCGs). Previously the CCGs had separate accounts.

Sue Harper, Chair of the CCG’s Communications and Engagement Committee and Lay Member for Patient and Public Involvement with Stafford and Surrounds CCG said: “Last year the six CCGs agreed that we would collaborate more closely in the interests of improving services for our patients.

“Social media is a key way to involve the public in what we are doing, inviting them to participate, getting them information about the latest developments, informing them of our intentions and passing on health information.

“The move to a single Twitter account will help with this, and more closely reflect the joined-up way the CCGs are now working. We shall also continue to develop how we communicate across other social media platforms.”

Each CCG retains its own legal status, ensuring decisions are locally led. But they are now aligning commissioning and leadership decisions, cutting down on duplicated effort and making sure many tasks can be undertaken once instead of six times.

The legacy Twitter accounts will remain accessible but will no longer be active.
