Staff member recognised for their honesty and accessibility

We introduced a staff Achievement of the Month Award aligned to the CCG values. The monthly award, which has been ongoing since last year, gives staff the opportunity to recognise and/or thank individual colleagues or teams for something they have done over the previous month.

We are pleased to announce that the latest winner is Vanessa Ridout, Executive Assistant to Lynn Millar, Director of Primary Care. Vanessa was nominated by her colleagues in the Primary Care Team for transforming the administrative support to the team and constantly providing advice, support and reassurance. Her nomination, and subsequent winning of the award, reflects the CCGs value of “we are honest, accessible and we listen”.

Vanessa said: “I was absolutely chuffed to the win the award this month, especially after only joining the CCG in March. The team are a great bunch of people and have certainly helped me settle into my role. I am thrilled to be back in a role that brings with it a great deal of job satisfaction and where you can see that patients actually benefit from the work we do."

Vanessa has over 20 years’ experience of working in the NHS – including a short time at NHS England, and over eight years working for Mid Staffordshire Foundation NHS Trust. She has a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience of working as an Executive Assistant. Part of her current role includes supporting Lynn and the primary care team by servicing a number of high level Board meetings, as well as supporting the Primary Care Committee, which is now held in public. Attendance at these meetings has further developed her relationships with GP colleagues across the three CCGs. Vanessa also supports the medicines optimisation service, where she supports the Area Prescribing Group.

Outside of work Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family, knitting and reading. As a family they are great supporters of Arsenal Football Club.
