Advice for patients ahead of the junior doctors’ strike

A national junior doctors’ strike is taking place on Wednesday the 10 February for 24 hours; effective from 8am until 8am on Thursday 11 January.

Andy Donald, Chief Officer for Stafford and Surrounds, Cannock Chase and South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula Clinical Commissioning Groups said: “GP practices will be open to patients as usual, so if you have a GP appointment please attend as normal. We would ask patients to bear with us, as we may be busier than normal, as our training doctors will not be working.

With autumn well underway and coughs, colds and flu already starting to circulate, South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is urging parents of children between the ages of two and seven to make sure their child has their flu nasal vaccination.

Keeping fit and healthy in pregnancy is important for your baby’s growth and development. The immune system is naturally lower during pregnancy, so if you were to catch the flu it could become serious very quickly. Therefore, South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging all pregnant women to get a free flu vaccination this winter.
