New Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service provider announced

Commissioners in Staffordshire from all six Clinical Commissioning Groups and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust have announced the new provider of Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service for the county.

The service provides transportation for patients with a medical need to and from outpatient hospital appointments as well as supporting hospitals to move patients who are medically stable out of hospital beds and onto more suitable hospitals where the right level of care can be provided.

E-zec Medical Transport Services have been chosen as the new provider of the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service across Staffordshire.

Patients are assured that they will not need to do anything when the change of provider happens, and they will continue to receive a service as they do now.

Andy Wickenden, Commercial Director with E-zec Medical Transport Services said:

"The E-zec team are delighted with the award of the contract and are looking forward to providing a high-quality transport service for non-emergency patients in Staffordshire."

NSL Care Services, the current Non-Emergency Patient Transport provider, have made a strategic decision to exit the Care market to focus on other aspects of their business.

Commissioners would like to thank NSL for delivering the contract since 2013 and for remaining fully committed to delivering a high-quality service to patients throughout the remaining duration of the contract.

• All patients from Northern Staffordshire (North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Clinical Commissioning groups and Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership Trust) and those travelling from South Staffordshire to Royal Stoke will go live from 1st August 2016

• The remaining South Staffordshire journeys will be delivered by E-zec from 1st October.
